Adam May (PhD) has over 25 years experience, teaching guitar and music in Victoria, N.S.W and Brazil.
Specialising in Classical, Brazilian, contemporary acoustic and electric guitar styles, VCE repertoire, AMEB exams and cavaquinho.
Lessons focus on repertoire, reading and fun approaches to home practice and study.
Adam currently teaches at The University of Melbourne, Conservatorium of Music (MCM) and at a select K-12 school in Melbourne.
Private lessons are also conducted from his home teaching studio in Elwood, VIC.
Qualifications include PhD (Music Performance), Master of Music (ethnomusicoloy), Bachelor Degree with Honours (University of Melbourne) and Bachelor of Music (NMIT).
Overseas study in Brazil includes, participation in ‘Choro do Para’, Belem, ‘Acariocamarata’, Rio de Janeiro and ‘Semana Assad’, Sao Paulo, along with performances and participation in masterclasses with, Turibio Santos, Paulo Bellinati, Alessandro Pennizzi and Ze Barbeiro.
Adam has successfully guided a number of students through the VCE repertoire, in both the Classical and Contemporary streams. Students have received outstanding VCE results, and a number of students have continued their music studies at a Tertiary level.
